The original paintings are done with pastels that I make myself. Using powdered pigments, I add a binder (in this case gum tragacanth). Because of the unique handmade quality of the pastels, brilliant and saturated colors can be created. The work is done on Rives and Arches acid free papers. Pastel cloth mounted on board is used for the larger pieces. Each painting has many layers, working with the background colors first and eventually the finer details. I also use metallic oil pastels and metal flake creating an atmosphere of the sun's reflection on the water. All originals have been sold. I work on a commissions only.
